- Native to the South Pacific, the Chenille Firetail is an evergreen plant that can grow to be approximately 12’ tall, but can remain smaller as a container plant with continual pruning. With large, bright green heart-shaped leaves accenting the soft, fuzzy, exotic red and pendulous flowers resembling of chenille yarn, hence its name. Other common descriptions include Foxtail, Monkey Tail and Red-hot Cat’s Tail. Thriving in tropical conditions, the Chenille Firetail is commonly used in dramatic landscape design and hanging baskets. The hanging flowers can grow to about 18” long creating a natural chandelier!
