- Commonly referred to as the Night Blooming Jasmine or lady-of-the-night, the Night Blooming Jessamine is not a true jasmine, but instead a Jessamine plant, which are in the Nightshade family meaning the flowers bloom at night. They are often confused with jasmines because of their highly fragrant flowers. The Night Blooming Jessamine is a tropical evergreen, viney shrub that grows to approximately 10’ tall bearing clusters of small white-green flowers. When the flowers fade, white berries form attracting a variety of birds. This is an excellent plant to have planted near the patio where it can act as a natural air freshener to a home!
